Archive – Wildlife Garden with Pond
This design features a large pond to encourage wildlife. Existing raised areas were reshaped to create vantage points of the pond and garden. This includes the raised terrace with seating and dining area in a sunny spot nearest the house. A circular path links this to a walkway past the pond with a small seating area under a tree. A more intimate and secluded spot near the shallow end of the pond with seating under a pergola allows privacy form the nearby lane and also a perfect vantage point to observe the wildlife beside the pond. The use of sympathetic materials such as brick paving and stone paving sit well with the 1020’s section of the house. Hedging and trees were chosen for their suitability to encourage wildlife and to link the local native plants.
