Garden for a Converted Schoolhouse
The playground was at the front of the old school house and the challenge was to create a private garden as well as a welcoming entrance to the property. Kate’s solution was to divide the garden into rectilinear sections. A dining area and hidden seating area were created near the house. A path way leads through generous planting areas creating movement and interest through the garden. A group of Betula utilis (silver birch) trees and the use of grasses and box balls provide structure and year round interest. Bulbs and perennials provide seasonal colour.
Kate has transformed our appreciation of the difference a beautiful and well designed garden can make to the quality of one’s life, making it an extension of our summer living space, filed with movement, dappled light and shade, scent and harmony. We absolutely love it. Thankyou.”
