Profile:
Kate trained at The Garden Design School GDS, one of the foremost providers of specialist training courses in garden design in the UK and graduated with Distinction. The teaching was largely undertaken by the college founders Moira Farnham and Robin Templar Williams, both highly accomplished and respected garden designers.
Other lectures were taken by leading experts in specialist aspects of garden design. Prior to pursuing her career as a garden designer, Kate had 17 years experience as a broadcast TV designer, 10 of which were at the BBC in London. As a result she brings a wealth of design experience, creativity and professionalism into her garden designs and an ability to communicate well and understand her clients' needs. Her final course project was submitted for the Society of Garden Designers (SGD) Student of the Year Competition. This was the first student competition the SGD had run and tied in with their 25 year anniversary and Kate was awarded joint first prize. The judges were Juliet Sargeant, Andy Sturgeon and Catherine Heatherington, all registered members of the society, lecturers and experienced designers of show gardens. As a result the design was reproduced on the society's web site, in the Garden Design Journal and Vitas and was exhibited at SGD's Autumn conference. |
